Overview

Prodigy Commissary is a secure facility web platform that modernizes commissary ordering and facility management workflows.

It supports three core user groups: internal staff, residents, and the public, through a unified experience with role based access and controls. I led design efforts and contributed to project management needs to ensure all products and business goals were met.

Problem

Prodigy Solutions identified commissary as a strategic expansion to unlock a scalable revenue stream and compete with legacy providers in the secure facility market. Existing systems were inefficient and difficult to use across staff, residents, and the public.

Research Philosophy

Research followed a consistent baseline process across both admin and public-facing features, starting with interviews to establish context and understand core user needs.

Admin features required more detailed process analysis due to the critical nature of staff workflows, while public-facing features focused on usability, clarity, and ease of adoption

Smart Restrictions

Smart Restrictions is a mission-critical feature designed to enforce safety, compliance, and operational rules within secure facilities. The system allows facilities to define and automate restrictions that control what residents can purchase, receive, or access through the commissary based on policy, status, or behavior.

By translating complex facility rules into configurable logic, Smart Restrictions reduced manual oversight for staff while ensuring consistent, enforceable compliance across the platform.

Resident Profiles

Shaped by research with internal staff, this page consolidates resident identity, status, restrictions, and financial activity into a single, scannable view. Clear hierarchy and surfaced financial indicators allow staff to quickly assess account health and take action, while task-based navigation supports fast, accurate decision making in high-volume, time-sensitive workflows.

Cash Drawers

As part of the broader fund accounting system, cash drawers serve as the physical intake point for facility funds and require a high level of auditing to ensure accuracy, accountability, and financial transparency. Staff are responsible for reconciling large volumes of transactions across shifts, making clarity, traceability, and error prevention critical to daily operations.

The public facing experience was initially developed by third party partners. I led the redesign of the interface, bringing it into accessibility compliance and restructuring the user experience to align with updated data models and backend requirements.
