Casa League

About

My local rec soccer league (CASA) recently put up a call for bids, they were looking to build their own league scheduling and management app to replace the Sports Engine app.

Although the project ended up getting canceled, I still wanted to explore some design ideas.

Brief

Create a mobile application that is both iOS and Android ready that integrates with the existing CASA website.

Enable team, player, schedule management and integrate with the SportEngine API.

Tech Stack

React Native, Native Wind, Expo, Node, and PostgreSQL

Match Start

Before any work in Figma began I wanted to lay out the user roles and their permissions. This helps me ensure I don’t miss any usability targets.

Key Actions

Identifying key actions that needed improvement from the Sport Engine app was an easy process since I have firsthand experience with it. There’s a long list but the one I wanted to focus on first was the process of adding a player.

The process of adding a player in manual in the current app. Not fun for anyone involved,by creating a team invite link and code we can make the process easier.

Closing Notes

Consider this a slice of life project, rather than a full case study.

Design is fun for me and I feel it's always good to explore. I enjoyed trying some new things out UI wise and also coming up with solutions to UX issues faced in the Sports Engine App. There’s a whole admin panel side to this app I’d like to design as well but I’ll save that for another time.

Thanks for reading this far.
